The Marsyas Trio

The Marsyas Trio is London-based and was formed in 2009 by graduates from the Royal College of Music, is dedicated to music for flute, cello and piano from the Classical era onwards, aiming to inspire a generation of new works for the genre, uncovering lesser known repertoire, and they are proactive in commissioning new music.
The Trio has toured abroad and performed most recently at The Holywell Music Room, Llandeilo and Ludlow festivals, and St James Piccadilly (Orpheus Foundation).
Live broadcasts include BBC Radio 3, Classic FM Bulgaria, and Bulgarian national television.
Past projects include a commission and CD (Meridian Records 2015) of music by Russian emigre Elena Firsova, funded by PRSF, RVW Trust, Ambache Charitable Trust, Hinrichsen Foundation  and a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Their CD, A Triple Portrait, has received radio airtime on various European stations and received acclaim in reviews internationally, including Cambridge Music Journal Tempo, The Strad and Australia's Limelight magazine.
The Trio's 2014 commission, by British composer Laura Bowler, was featured in a cross-arts project staged at the 2014 Grimeborn Festival (Arcola Theatre, London) funded by Arts Counicl England and the Britten-Pears Foundation. Bowler's work was conceived and performed as a partner piece to George Crumb's ground-breaking Flute-Cello-Piano work Vox Balaenae.

Their most recent commision os from the Welsh composer Hilary Tann. Upcoming performances include St John's Smith Square, Hay-on-Wye, Vale of Galmorgan and Three Choirs Festivals.
